What are the terms for the 3 parts of a domain name? (i.e. www.yourname.com)
The "www" part of the address is an example of a third level domain also known as a host. The "yourname" part is an example of a second level domain (SLD) and the ".com" is an example of a Top Level Domain (TLD).
What is the meaning of the term "URL REDIRECT"?
With URL REDIRECT, when someone types your domain name, for example, www.yourname.com, we transfer them to your website and when they get there, they see the entire URL path to where your website is actually hosted, for example, http://www.geocities.com/yourpage/yourpics.html.
What is the meaning of the term "URL FRAME"?
With URL FRAME, when someone types in your domain name, for example, www.yourname.com, and they get to your website they only see your domain name in the browser address bar, for example, www.yourname.com
How do the contacts work? What is the difference between "Billing" and "Aux. Billing"?
There are 4 types of contacts - billing, registrant, auxiliary billing, and technical. The billing information is used to identify whose JB WebHosting, LLC account the domain name belongs to. The auxiliary billing information is used to identify the actual user who purchased the domain. Note: The auxiliary billing information is usually only useful with a reseller account.
What is the difference between the "Check domain" information and the "whois" (Who Is) functionality (found at the top of the home page)?
The "Check domain" feature checks for the availability of registering a domain name. The whois information provides detailed information about an existing domain name in JB WebHosting, LLC's records. It does not check for the existence of domain names in other Registrars.
